April 22 is one of my favorite days of the year. Earth Day is a day where we take actions to better this thing we all share called, earth.
Since 1970 every April 22 has been a day where humans collect garbage, plant trees, and show respect for the land they live on. I think we all should be treating earth this way every day. I live with a disability and use medical supplies daily. My medical issues make me a huge contributor to hurting the earth. Knowing this I choose to take extra precautions in other aspects of my life.
Here are some things I do to decrease my carbon footprint:
Compost my food scraps
Don’t toss those food scrapes in the garbage. Pile them up in your yard and let mother nature eat them up.
Grow a lot of my own food
Why not eat healthy and be a little more self sustaining. Gardening is therapeutic too!
Use Nontoxic products
Pull weed, don’t use weed killer. Use organic cleaning products to decrease water contamination.
Use paperless billing
Technology isn’t exactly better for the environment but at least your not cutting down a tree.
Recycle and reuse
Buy products with composting or recycling packaging. If you can’t reuse the packaging for other household needs.
These are very simple things you can do to help keep our earth healthy and happy. Try to get outside today!
